The College of Physicians of Philadelphia was founded in 1787 to gather scientific and medical knowledge from the U.S. and abroad, to promote the use of this knowledge for the public welfare, and to encourage the highest standards of professional practice among its members and colleagues.

This legacy endures through our current mission: advancing the cause of health while upholding the ideals and heritage of medicine. OurMütter Museum,Historic Medical Library,public health outreach programs including Philly Health Info.org,and free lecture series cover the history of American medicine from the 15th century to today.
