Section on Public Health

The Section on Public Health creates a forum for deliberation of relevant issues in public health, and provides information for the development of health policy.  The Section brings together public health professionals from all across the region to study public health problems and assess potential responses. Section events are listed on the College's Calendar of Events.
The Section is chaired by Carolyn H. Asbury, PhD.



Presentation given by Dr. Giridhar Mallya, MD, MSHP at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, on June 16, 2010.

Dr. Mallya is the Director of Policy and Planning for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health and the Primary Investigator for Philadelphia's CDC-funded Communities Putting Prevention to Work Tobacco Policy & Control and Nutrition & Physical Activity initiatives. Philadelphia's Communities Putting Prevention to Work initiative, has received funding totaling $25.4 Million, one of the largest public health grants the city has ever received.
