Program Calendar :  2008
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and funders, programs sponsored by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia are free and open to the public. There is a modest fee for cocktail buffets at College-sponsored programs. Dues and donations to the College's Sections fund the receptions for their programs. Any applicable fees are indicated following the program descriptions below.

6:00 p.m. Mütter Museum Event. Benjamin Rush Medicinal Plant Garden Party. Enjoy an evening in the beautiful Benjamin Rush Medicinal Plant Garden at its seasonal peak! A talk and tour will be provided by Dr. Clarissa Dillon. Dr. Dillon is the author of "A Large, and Useful, and a Grateful Field:" Eighteenth-Century English Kitchen Gardens in Eastern Pennsylvania, the Uses of the Plants, and Their Place in Women's Work." She will explain the medical uses of many of the plants in our garden and discuss some of the myths that arose with the creation of Colonial Revival gardens. Light refreshments will be served. Free with Museum admission. Register Online

3:00 p.m. The Tenth Jonathan E. Rhoads Commemorative Lecture featuring New York Times reporter Larry Altman. This program is co-sponsored by the American Philosophical Society, The University of Pennsylvania Department of Surgery, and the College of Physicians. Location: The American Philosophical Society.

  • College Fellows and Guests/ Fellows' Widows-Widowers:   $20/ person
  • College donors of $5,000+ and above:  Complimentary
  • General Public:  $35/ person
  • Students:  $10/ person (valid student ID required; must be presented)

*Payments must accompany reservations. The College can only guarantee cocktail buffet reservations paid in advance. Nametags will be provided to those who register for the cocktail buffets.
