The College of Physicians welcomes volunteers and offers many opportunities where they may contribute to the College's programs. The following are areas are in need of interns or volunteers:
Volunteer Docents in the
Mütter Museum act as tour guides and teach classes
to school groups on topics related to the Museum.
Volunteers are accepted on a rolling basis.
The Mütter Museum also invites
area college students to intern with its staff
and unique collections. Museum interns assist
in the creation of new exhibits and the management
of collection records. The Mütter Museum accepts
intern applications for the Fall, Spring and
Summer on a semester basis. A maximum of two
interns are accepted for the Fall and Spring
semesters and one intern for the Summer. Prospective
interns must fill out the application
form in full and submit it to volunteer@collegephysicians.org.
Due to the high volume of applications it is
not possible to accept every applicant into
the internship program. The Museum accepts college
students (undergraduates and graduate students)
looking to undertake an internship to fulfill
college credit. The Museum is currently conducting
an inventory of the collection and seeks students
interested in museum collections management
with previous experience in collections, inventory
and a familiarity with computer databases.
The Mütter Museums
deadline for Summer 2010 applications is April 15th.
The Historical Library is
also looking for interns to work with staff
to assist with various projects. Projects may
include archival processing, research, or creation
of web pages. The Library seeks graduate level
students with previous library or archival experience.
Library interns are accepted on a rolling basis.
