| FELLOWSHIP |
In 1787, twenty-four leading physicians in Philadelphia founded the College, intending it to become a nexus of medical information and professional collegiality. In doing so, the Fellows of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia established one of the world's finest medical libraries and an unrivaled medical museum. This historic purpose has been sustained by the service and commitment of the Fellows. They are instrumental in upholding our mission: to advance the cause of health and uphold the ideals and heritage of medicine.
Physicians, civic leaders, public health
advocates, academics, and other professionals
come together for health-related lectures, public
policy debates, and scholarship. The spirit
of collegiality that founded the College in
1787 remains vibrant today. The participation
of the Fellowship is instrumental to all College
activities and programs -- from identifying
the pathological specimens in the Mütter
Museum, to writing public health articles for
Philly Health Info, and to presenting lectures
in their fields of expertise.
