Philadelphia
physicians have been pioneers and leaders in the practice
and teaching of obstetrics and gynecology since the 18th
century, and the OB-GYN instrument collections of the Mütter
Museum reflect the richness of that heritage. The approximately
1200 artifacts range in date from the 18th century to the
present, and include those used in delivery, diagnosis,
and in the treatment of gynecological and obstetrical disorders.
The
OB-GYN Online Catalogue provides a comprehensive overview
of our collections in order to aid researchers in their
basic identification and use. For additional information
about the instruments or the physicians associated with
them, contact the Mütter Museum at museum@collphyphil.org.
The
OB-GYN Online Catalogue was funded by grants from the Pennsylvania
Historical and Museum Commission and the Groff Family Memorial
Trust.
